Pauline Bastarache, Safari Booking Expert

Pauline’s second career as an Authorized Travel Agent did not begin until she retired from an Ottawa Teaching Hospital as Vice-President of Patient Care.

Introduced to the African continent, when her husband Jean accepted a position with the United Nations, she made East Africa their home for 13 years. Having travelled extensively in Africa, she became fascinated with the history, the varied cultures – and took special interest in the people of Kenya and Tanzania and all they have to offer.

She gave back to these amazing communities by donating her time and expertise to help street kids in Arusha. She co-founded the Malaika Children Orphanage, as well as serving as a volunteer with the Kenya Museum Society and the Canadian Association of Kenya. She continues to practice Swahili also known as Kiswahili, a Bantu language and the first language of the Swahili people.

Pauline has personally experienced over 25 safaris in East Africa alone. She chose to associate with Elewana & Sopa because of their commitment to quality, incomparable customer service and vast array of offerings.

Now based in Bouctouche, along the historic Acadian coast in New Brunswick, Canada – Pauline takes pride in organizing unique private or small group safari excursions for a worldwide clientele. Pauline speaks fluently in English & French and has a knowledge of Swahili.
